This was a fun one to research - I had never heard the word Dauphin except in the context of this park. I was definitely not expecting this kind of lore behind it. Thanks for reading!
I’d heard, or rather read, the word Dauphin (I love historical fiction) but you’re the first source that actually defined the word for me! I knew it had to do with French royalty but that’s about it. Was it another word for “king?” Now I understand it was the eldest son in line for the throne.
This one is making my list of backyard adventures! How awesome. I love history, and you provided enough details to stoke my curiosity. Nice write up Jenn!
What a backstory! I love learning history, especially about this lovely land we get to call "home."
Learning more about the parks is very cool.
Did you ever watch the show "How The States Got Their Shapes"? I was mad that they didn't do every single state lol. I bet they didn't get renewed. I thought it was a really fascinating show, and topic!
I was just telling my son about that show this week - it was so fascinating. I loved it. It is so cool to hear someone else remembered the show too...other people I have talked to said they never heard of it.
This was so interesting! I love history like this.

I feel like the De Pere area has a lot of cool stuff around it too - it should be a fun area to adventure and explore.

My hunch was correct lol. I love hearing that someone else loved the show. I don't know anyone else who watched it. Guess it was just us two? 😂
I don't know if it's streaming anywhere, I would totally rewatch it.
